Detailed Itinerary

 

DAY 1 - AM: Baltra / PM: Santa Cruz: Charles Darwin Station

You will arrive at Baltra Airport in the morning. After passing through immigration and baggage claim you will be met by your guide, who will transfer you to Itabaca canal, cross to the Island of Santa Cruz and travel to Puerto Ayora to leave you at your Hotel. Lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Breeding Center "Fausto Llerena" - Charles Darwin Breeding Center, home to turtles ranging from 3-inches (new hatchlings) to 4-feet long. Here you will observe the various sub-species of turtles interacting with each other, and possibly with you. Many of the older turtles are accustomed to humans, and will stretch out their heads for a pet. The babies are only kept until they are about four years old, or large enough to survive in the wild. These conservation efforts continue to be extremely successful.

DAY 2 - AM-PM: Santa Cruz: Daily Tour to one of the following islands: Floreana or North Seymour or South Plaza or Bartolome or Santa Fé

In the morning we will take a speed boat that will take us to one of following islands: Floreana or North Seymour or South Plaza or Bartolome or Santa Fé

Floreana is known for its fabulous snorkeling sites, its vibrantly pink flamingos and its black sand beaches. You will find the presence of Galapagos Sea Lions that are on the beach and in the bay of the Lobería. Marine iguanas are also seen along the shores and lots of sea turtles in the rocky reefs of the Bay.

It is a perfect place to snorkel.

In North Seymour Island we will find Sea Lions, Blue-footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigate birds are abundant on North Seymour Island. The island was formed by series of submarine lavas containing layers of sediment that were uplifted by tectonic activity. The island is characterized by its arid vegetation zone.

South Plaza Island is a small island with steep cliffs that was formed by rising lava and is now covered by Opuntia cacti. It is also home to one of the largest sea lion colonies as well as colorful yellow and red land iguanas. The most characteristic plant is the Sesuvium. During the rainy season its color is a greenish to yellowish tone and in the dry season (end of June through January) a bright red.

Bartholomew Island, home of the famous Pinnacle Rock. Bartholomew consists of an extinct volcano with a variety of red, orange, black and even green volcanic formations. We will take a trail of stairs to the summit of the volcano (about 30 or 40 minutes) where you will enjoy one of the best views of the islands! You will also visit a small, beautiful beach, surrounded by the only vegetation found on this barren island. The beach is perfect for snorkeling where you may even see the Galapagos penguins.

Santa Fe Island (Barrington) is home to the small picturesque bay and anchorage on the island northeast coast. The bay has two visitor trails, one leading to a scenic viewpoint atop a cliff and the other spanning from a small beach to a tall prickly pear cactus forest.

DAY 3 - AM: Santa Cruz: Bay Tour / Transfer to San Cristobal / PM: San Cristobal: Loberia Beach

In the morning, we´ll have a Bay Ttour around Academy Bay will offer the awesome opportunity to swim with sea lions and colorful fishes in front of Camaño islet, also known as Lobería (sea lion colony), you can have an encounter with blue footed boobies perched on the ledges of the cliffs. From the Chanals White tipped reef sharks can be seen, right across Franklin´s bay. You can climb to a viewpoint to observe the sharks from above and walk to the playa de los perros (dog beach) where dozens of marine iguanas bask in the sun over the rocks. Prickly pear cactus and other arid zone plants over the reddish environment and the turquoise ocean will form the perfect scenery for incredible photographs.

After this visit you will depart to San Cristobal by lancha.

When you arrive in San Cristobal, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to the Hotel. After your lunch, you will have your visit to La Loberia.

La Loberia is home of large Galapagos sea lions and nursery. There are frequently dozens of sea lions visible at any time. Besides the sea lions, yellow warblers, frigates and several species of Darwin Finches and marine iguanas can be seen.

La Loberia also has interesting flora including button mangrove, white mangrove, chala, palo santo, cotton, tiquilia, morning glory and other species of the littoral zone as the cacho de chivo, whose seeds is the main source of food for several species of finches.

DAY 4 - AM: Interpretation Center / PM: San Cristobal Airport

In the morning we will visit the Interpretation Center was opened in 1998 as a phase of the project “Interpretation and Environment Education Project.” Visitors enjoy expositions on natural history, human history, and conservation. The conservation efforts represent the movement to protect the wildlife and natural environment through means of population and tourist control. The Interpretation Center has an outdoor stadium, audio-visual equipment, and meeting rooms.
