This appropriately named island is ripe with noisy, frolicking, jolly sea lions who will welcome you to their home with open, well, fins. This island also offers great snorkeling opportunities as well as the chance to see Blue-Footed and Nazca Boobies.

Kicker Rock (Leon Dormido) known as the Sleeping Lion because of its resemblance, this site is located off the coast of San Cristobal. The remains of a lava cone eroded by the sea, two vertical rocks rising 500 feet above the ocean, form a small channel that is navigable by small boats. This Galapagos Islands natural monument has become a favorite sight for cruises due to the many tropicbirds, frigate birds and boobies that fill the surrounding air. Beneath the sea the crystal waters offer a brilliant show of colorful tropical fish and invertebrates.

Puerto Grande is located next to Kicker Rock island on the north coast of San Cristobal. The main attraction is the beach, landscape and recreation. You can see a system of dunes and plant species of the coastal zone, as well as aquatic birds, both coastal and migratory. Landing is allowed on the island and white sand beach, it is suitable for bathing. It is a small pacific bay with a small in-land lake. It is a great location to watch blue-footed boobies dive into the sea and come out with fish in their beaks. Lava gulls are found along the shoreline making a lot of racket.

Galapagos Mockingbirds can be found as well as a great variety of beach plants like the Opuntia cacti and Mangroves. Other species found at this site are Brown Pelikans, small ground finches and sea turtles.
